Paolo Cevoli brings La penultima cena to Teatro Manzoni in Milan on Tuesday 18 May 2027 at 20:45. Written and performed by Cevoli, with direction by Daniele Sala, the show follows a fictional Roman cook through culinary and commercial misadventures.

A cook with questionable business plans

Paulus Simplicius Marone comes from Ariminum, today’s Rimini. His story takes him to Rome, where he learns the art of cooking, and eventually to Cana. Food, ambitious schemes and encounters drawn from Gospel stories become material for a comic monologue. The ancient setting gives Cevoli room to play with recognisable appetites and human failings.
